The cross-training required in the fighting style of MMA commands proper dieting and food supplement matching to your physical structure and the of combat arts you are mixing. The normal supplements utilized in bodybuilding are naturally false in the unrivalled preparation of No Hold Barred. Bodybuilders are exclusively occupied in developing mass, which in UFC gets the Ultimate fighter to rigid encumbered and unprogressive. The enduringness, strength and resilience asked in No Hold Barred postulate specialized food supplement coming from varied and fitness addition. Athletes are equipped with an battery of conditioning techniques, and as a result, they repeatedly turn lost. consistently, untested athlete’s purpose is blindfolded by the common thinking that bigger muscled frame adequate puissant vale tudo fighter that will submerge their oppositions and impress people. The most important aspects of No Hold Barred training and fighting is to work up a overwhelming indefatigable endurance and the power to produce utmost force for a supreme lenght of time. Outstanding combatant who wants to experience a successful MMA career need to focus on endurance and forget straightaway renown to privilege a durable attainment and choose exclusively the ethical supplementation required to maximize their body endurance elasticity and power. It’s true for the general aspect of the sport as stated by J. Barnett, the look is consequential in a professional UFC show where fighter’s livelihood hope further on fan base and marketing competence than flourishing impressive record, but for an completed athlete, the oversize champions in the sport are frequently similar to freak show or pumped up cheats like: Bob the beast Sapp, Kevin Randleman and others that do not have wonderful fighting fight record but are mass preferred… for a short time.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is one of the fastest growing sports in terms of popularity, and the longer it continues the more guys want to join up and the more gamblers want to watch fights and place their bets.
Reality TV shows that set champion UFC fighters up against one another with a bunch of rookie wannabe fighters have clearly done nothing to damage the growing interest in the sport, and although the gambling population is slowly becoming aware of the UFC as an option, it can be difficult to ascertain just how a bet is placed on these fights because bookmakers don’t tend to run the normal win/lose odds on them.
UFC fights are usually drawn up by the bookmakers with moneylines instead of your average 18/1 odds. This is done because in so many UFC fights there is a clear favourite and a clear amateur, hoping for a win but unlikely to succeed.
If the odds were laid out according to expectations of the fight, a huge percentage of bettors would simply bet on the favourite and all of them would be winners. Not only is this completely un-thrilling, but it means that as bets on the favourite pour in before the fight, the odds are greater and greater in his favour until there is almost nothing to gain off the win for anyone except big spenders. And us average gamblers don’t usually want to bet our life savings, even on a sure thing. To combat this trend, the moneyline is brought in for betting on UFC fights.
A moneyline is really just another way to place the odds without hugely favouring one fighter over another. Instead of 3/1 odds or some such number, one fighter will be listed with a negative number and the other with a positive number. Let’s say two fighters were posted with a moneyline of -140 and +110; if you bet on the favourite with the negative number, you will have to spend 140 pounds to win 100 pounds. Conversely, if you bet on the underdog at +110, then your 100 pounds bet could win you 110 pounds.
The moneylines will fluctuate in the hours and days preceding the fight because the bookmaker doesn’t want the bettors to start favouring either fighter; however the bet you take out is fixed and you deal with the specific moneyline that was posted when you gave the bookmaker your money.
Because the UFC is a growing industry both within the sports world and the betting world, it can be tough to find bookmakers with any odds posted for them at all, moneyline or otherwise. If you want to bet online, however, the internet is the place to find your fight and cash in on your favourites.

The UFC’s lightweight division has certainly had it’s ups and downs over the past year. With two positive tests for steroids and BJ Penn re-entering the fold, it’s time to re-evaluate the rankings in the UFC lightweight division.

Lightweights in the UFC are considered to be up to 155lbs, but most of the guys in this list walk around at well over 155lbs. Sean Sherk and BJ Pen have both competed successfully at higher weights and former Ultimate Fighters Joe Stevenson and Kenny Florian have come down to be at 155. Let’s not waste any time and get to the list.

6. Roger Huerta was virtually unknown to UFC fans just a year ago, but with 5 consecutive wins added in that time (to put his total to 15 in a row) and a sports illustrated cover have made Huerta a household name and fight fan favorite. I first started taking notice of Huerta with his decision victory over Leonard Garcia at UFC 69. Huerta seemed to have endless cardio in that fight and has had added two more impressive victories since then. One against Douglas Evans and one against a very tough Alberto Crane. Huerta doesn’t quite make my top 5, but he certainly deserves special mention and a #6 placement.

5. Din Thomas holds wins over Matt Serra and Jens Pulver. That alone is not enough to move Din into the top 5, however his performances since the finale of the Ultimate Fighter season 4 are. Din has defeated Rich Clementi, Clay Guida and Jeremy Stephens and with those three victories over tough condition I give Din a #5 rating. I think Din is a tough match for anyone at 155.

4 Kenny Florian has one of the worst nicknames in martial arts “KenFlo”, but that shouldn’t be held against him. He was won 5 of his last six, most of them seemingly with little effort. He did loose in the lightweight title bout with Sean Sherk, but not before opening up a stomach turning cut on Sherk and giving “The Muscle Shark” a good battle.

3. Joe Stevenson has won 13 of his last 14 fights, including victories over Melvin Guillard, Yves Edwards and Kurt Pellegrino. Ususally that puts Joe right in the mix at 155 and I expect him to get a title shot very soon.

2 Sean Sherk has rolled over all the competition he has faced since he moved to 155. He’s easily out pointed Kenny Florian and Hermes Franca and is well deserving of the #2 spot. I think a couple of guys could give Sean a run, but with Seans strength and conditioning it will be tough to defeat “The Muscle Shark”.

1. BJ Penn has exactly one fight at lightweight in the last four years, so why is he considered #1 on my list? Simply because BJ Penn is the best lightweight fighter on the planet. BJ Penn has fought the very best at 155 and 170 and held his own with all of them. He is 1-1 in his fights with long time welterweight champion Matt Hughes and very nearly defeated the future at that weight, Georges St Pierre. He holds a win over Jens Pulver and Din Thomas. Sean Sherk (who is at #2) has lost badly to both Hughes and St Pierre and in my mind that puts BJ at a completely different level. Until Takanori Gomi comes to the UFC BJ Penn holds the top spot on my list of 155 lb fighters.

Many will disagree with my list, after all it is missing Hermes Franca, Manny Gamburyan, Spencer Fisher and others. No top 5 list is complete, or entirely without flaws. This is mine, for what it’s worth. Of course when Spencer, Manny or Hermes defeat one of the others on my list I’ll be happy to move them into the top 5.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has experienced a meteoric rise in popularity and ratings over the past couple of years. Love it or hate it, it looks like the UFC is here to stay. Consequently many men in the 18 – 34 demographic are becoming more interested in the martial arts.
After watching great strikers such as Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva and Houston Alexander and watching the incredible grappling and wrestling skills of Randy Couture, Matt Hughes and BJ Penn, many martial artists are asking themselves the question “Will my martial art get me to the UFC?”
The answer to this question is very simple.
No, your martial art will not get you to the UFC! Make that a maybe, instead of a definite no.
OK, I can already tell that some of you may be shocked at that one line put down of you, your chosen martial art and your UFC aspirations. After all I don’t know anything about you but let me expand on my answer so you know where I’m coming from.
First of all, it is important to understand that no one style has all of the elements of a complete fighting system for success in the Octagon, but many styles have a lot of them. The UFC, Pride, WEC and Elite XC are all labeled under the category “Mixed Martial Arts.” This should tell you a lot in relation to the question of whether your martial art will get you to the UFC. Mixed martial arts is exactly what it says it is – a mix of several different martial arts pulled together to create the full skill set of techniques needed for survival in the ring, cage or octagon (or the street for that matter!)
To be a successful UFC fighter you need to have a great stand-up game and a great ground game. In addition to this you need to learn take-downs and take-down defenses. This doesn’t even include the physical conditioning or the mental aspect of preparing for a fight. So here are some suggestions as to which styles you should study to give yourself the best chance of becoming a good fighter.
· Striking Skills: Boxing, Muay Thai, Shotokan, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Savate
· Take-Downs: Judo, Hapkido, Sanda (San Shou), Sambo
· Grappling and Submissions: Wrestling, Brazilian Ju-jitsu, Japanese Ju-jitsu, Aikido
There are many other martial arts not on this list that are also worthy of in-depth study; and some of them on the list include all of the above skills to a greater or lesser degree.
So will your martial art get you to the UFC? Not by itself, but if you combine the strength of your chosen art with the missing elements that you need from some of the other styles above, then you will be well on your way.
For more in-depth information on many of the most commonly practiced martial arts, get my FREE “Beginners Guide to Karate”. You will find out how to download it at http://www.freekarateinformation.com
Good luck and best wishes on your journey in karate.

From Cologne, Germany. Original airdate: 6/13/09

Welterweight bout:  Dan Hardy d. Marcus Davis via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Why does Hardy care what Marcus wants to represent? Anyways, this was a good fight nonetheless as Marcus ate the most strikes, but he controlled the fight. Plus it had near submissions.

Lightweight bout:  Spencer Fisher d  Caol Uno via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Not the greatest of fights and it was a bit of a snoozefest… Uno needs to push it.

Welterweight bout:  Mike Swick d  Ben Saunders via TKO (strikes) at 3:47 of round 2. Ben’s nickname is “Killa B,” which no self-respecting white guy should ever have. That alone is reason enough for Swick to kill him. Anyhoo, Swick looked excellent against a very good fighter. Mike is no Georges St. Pierre, but he’s a good jack-of-all-trades type of fighter.

Heavyweight bout:  Mirko Filipovic d  Mostapha Al-turk via TKO (Strikes) at 3:06 of round 1. Cro Cop won by eye poke of doom! Sucks that it had to end on a eyepoke because Mirko was gonna beat him up anyway as turk was just swinging wild. Oh, and if titles were decided on entrance music, Al Turk would be undisputed champ no doubt.

Heavyweight bout:  Cain Velasquez d.  Cheick Kongo via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). Cain is the new Tito Ortiz. Good staredown at the start. Anyways, Cain just dominated Kongo after getting rocked in the beginning. Kongo was fighting like a dumbass; he needed to create space and throw his hands. Kongo has fallen in love with grappling and I don’t know why. Anyhoo, Kongo could have won this if he kept distance and throws hands. I think Brock would murder Cain. I now hate Velasquez the same way I hate Coleman and Don Frye back in the day.

Catchweight (195 lb) bout:  Rich Franklin d.  Wanderlei Silva via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). Damn Wanderlei. Losing to a friggin’ math teacher. What’s amazing was that Wanderlei was basically running on fumes after Round 1 and Franklin still couldn’t do crap. Bad decision, screw Franklin. I hope he gets cancer. Wandy should have won that. You can’t give the last round to Rich just for a meaningless takedown. Damn, I hate how scoring a harmless takedown is weighted so heavily. Say what you want about Japan’s scoring system but what they get right is that takedowns are not skewed heavily like they are in the UFC.

Final Thoughts: It was probably the worst and most uninteresting PPV card I have seen in at least a year. I didn’t really care about any of the matches going in, the matches ended up being pretty boring with too many judges decisions. Just didn’t seem like the guys were trying their hardest.

UFC 101 is  Dish Network Pay per View. Set you HD DVR to record not only the Main event with BJ Penn, taking on Kenny Florian, but the pound for pound best fighter Anderson Silva move up to 205 to take on Fan favorite Forrest Griffin. Anderson Silva who has beaten everyone in The middleweight class that poses any kind of threat will move up to 205 to find some competition in Griffin. Silva not only is looking for competition in MMA, but also has a dream to Box Roy Jones JR. Lets take one step at a time though. Anderson is a very impressive fighter with unbelievable striking ability not only with his hands but his Knees, are some of the most powerful I have seen. With this sort of attack you can’t help but think that Griffin may be heading down the rankings in the light heavy weight class with a loss. BUT, Forrest Griffin is no joke; he has proven to us time and again that you cannot count him out of any fight. He will stand and fight anyone you put in front of him and use every ounce of his heart to try to win. Defeating great fighters like Quinton Rampage Jackson, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Griffin has proven himself to be among the top fighters in MMA. Couple that with the fact that he does not seemed to be phased by the sight of his own blood, and seems to enjoy pain when being punched in the face, hey this may be a perfect combination to end Silva’s Win Streak. Either way is going to be a great night of fighting. There is sure to be lots of Blood, lots of heart, a one winner at the end of the fight. Who it will be, this is a tough one to call, in my opinion I would have to go with Anderson Silva. Now the main event of that evening, BJ Penn vs. Kenny Florian, sorry Kenny, BJ is going to win this fight. He has been around a long time has fought the best fighters, and is as well rounded a fighter there is. I think this one ends by submission say 3rd round. As a side note, with the strike force signing of Fedor, I am beginning to think that he just does not want to fight the best Heavyweight challengers. He is a great fighter, probably the best heavyweight and the maybe the one man who can take the belt from Brock Lesnar. So why not try? I guess We will have to wait until the folding of Strike Force when there is no where else to fight, Fedor may have no choice but to come to fight the best or retire leaving the unanswered question could he have been the man to take down the mountain of Brock Lesnar? We may never know, but what we will know is who is going to be victorious on Dish Network Pay per View. Remember to DVR this event.By: Frank Bilotta

Are you another faving fan of the mixed martial arts scene? Many people around the world love MMA and the likes of Chuck Liddell, Rashad Evans, Ken Shamrock, and Diego Sanchez but don’t get to enjoy their favorite fighters all the time. Why you ask? Many reasons. They could live outside the country, work during the time fights come on, not be able to afford digital cable, or live in an area that doesn’t provide pay per view service. For these people watching the UFC online is an option, and thanks to technology they can now do this. Here’s how.

Watching MMA fights online is a relatively new concept but not difficult at all to get to work. You simply need to connect to the stream of the fight. Connecting to the stream is not as difficult as it sounds either. You just need software with the location of the streams in it so you can connect and enjoy your program. Some of these Digital TV on PC programs have thousands of channels, some have a few. All of them work, however sometimes it might take a while to find the stream you want if they aren’t listed in alphabetical order due to how many streams there are on these programs.

The software is a simple on time download. Go to the vendors secure site, pay with Paypal or Credit card, and download it. After you download it, install it and open it up. You can then view the streams and go through them. There will either be a sports or MMA channel where you can watch the UFC fights. It’s a really simple process and the company offers a money back guarantee in the rare case that it doesn’t work with your computer.

UFC 69 will feature a long awaited showdown between two Ultimate Fighter season one fighters. Josh Koscheck and Diego Sanchez. While I believe that Sanchez should be in line for a title shot, even without this bout, who can argue that it will be an unbelievable fight.
During the Ultimate Fighter season one, Sanchez defeated Koscheck by decision after a close three rounds. Considering that at the time Kos was 99% wrestler and 1% MMA fighter, it wasnt’ a bad showing for Koscheck.
Since then, both fighters have been on a rampage (sorry Quinton), winning victory after victory. That is of course except for Koscheck’s one sided KO loss. When I say one sided, I mean that Josh Koscheck was completely dominating the fight with Drew Fickett, when Fickett landed a big knee, then secured the victory by submission.
On the other hand, Diego Sanchez remains undefeated in his MMA career. He had an amazing victory over Karo Parisyan and an even more impressive win over Joe “Diesel” Riggs, courtesy of a big knee and some punches.
What’s going to happen when these two talented fighters meet? I’m not going to give a prediction, but I want to see it unfold. Diego’s striking has improved a lot since his Ultimate Fighter days and his cardio is always great. Josh Koscheck has also improved his striking and has become much more of a well rounded MMA fighter. He still has the best take downs in the sport. Absolutely ferocious!
If my memory is correct, UFC 69 will be on April 7th, in Houston, Texas. I also believe that the long awaited Matt Serra vs Georges St Pierre fight will be on that same card, assuming that St Pierre’s knee injury has healed. I wonder if Dana White is setting this match up to see who will face the winner of St Pierre, Serra? I can’t believe that he’d want to do that as there is probably big money on the line for a Matt Hughes, Georges St Pierre rematch.
Koscheck vs Sanchez will not end quickly like the Joe Riggs – Sanchez fight did. It will be a long fight, perhaps even going to a decision. The question is not so much who is the better fighter, but who has improved more since their last war and who wants it more on April 7th. Will Koscheck’s outstanding wrestling and killer take downs be enough, or has Diego’s game also improved?
What else will be featured on this card? It could theoretically be enough time for Quinton “Rampage” Jackson to be ready for a rematch with Chuck Liddell, but I don’t see the UFC putting that fight on the same card as Matt Serra vs Georges St Pierre. Perhaps a second tune up fight for Rampage would be on this card though. Maybe against somebody like Forrest Griffin or Keith Jardine. Hey, that would be the fair thing to do, put Jardine up against Jackson to see who is next in line for Chuck Liddell!
Good luck to both Josh and Diego, may the best man win!

Randy “The Natural” Couture will square off with Mark Coleman at the main event at UFC 109: Relentless.Coleman would have beat Couture easily if his fight had taken place years ago. However, this is 2010 and not 2006 and The Hammer has seen his mixed martial arts game decline. The collective ages of both fighter will be 91 years by the time this fight rolls around. Bboth fighters were quite similar at the start of their careers as both were standout collegiate wrestling stars and both used their phenomenal base in wrestling to excel in MMA. Both have their own facilities but Couture’s Xtreme Couture is a total MMA club where high level training talent convene while Coleman operates the Hammer House out of Columbus. Xtreme Coulture and Team Hammer House are perfect examples of who Couture and Coleman are as fighters today. Couture has developed a variety of skills in addition to his wrestling—boxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The older he gets, the greater his skill base and the better he becomes. Sadly the same cannot be said for Coleman.Though Coleman may have been the innovator of the ground and pound this fighting style it has evolved. Couture is a three-time Olympic team alternate (1988, 1992 and 1996), a semifinalist at the 2000 Olympic Trials, a three-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division-I All-American and a two-time NCAA Division-I runner-up. Coleman wrestled for Miami University, in Ohio, where he was a two time Mid-American Conference wrestling champion and NCAA championship. Coleman was awarded a spot on the US Wrestling team, placing seventh overall in the 1992 Summer Olympics.Though Coleman may have been a better wrester at one time, his current ability no longer overwhelms Couture as his skills have not evolved with MMA. Coleman has been utilizing the same techniques since his university days while Couture has incorporated MMA into his wrestling. This fight will be an event featuring an old school versus a new school combatant. Couture is now a compete fighter who has used his base in wresting to further build upon his skills. Coleman on the other hand has always relied solely upon his wresting and that is about it. When it comes to sports betting the online UFC betting lines are accurate—Couture should be a -390 or even higher. The MMA betting lines may be steep, but nevertheless worth a small play. Coleman is is known as the “Godfather of Ground and Pound” but unfortunately that is what he is starting to look like in the octagon as well.Couture will be able to dictate this fight and win with ease.
