In 1993 the first ever Ultimate Fighting Championship took place. At that time There was a time when people loved to watch Judo, Karate, jiu-jitsu and other martial arts. People used to like boxing and wrestling. But over the recent years a large number of people have started to shift to mixed martial arts. And the biggest platform for mixed martial art fighting is the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The popularity of this event has risen solely because it has more to offer than any other sports. It provides thrill, excitement, drama, reality and every other thing that a person can think of. The popularity of this event in the last seventeen years has increased to new heights.
There were very few rules and it is safe to say that there were no rules. People thought of this sport as a violence promoter and a game of great aggression and brutality. The UFC had to face dark times because of political setbacks. This all has changed in the seventeen years of the UFC. People from all over the world gather to watch this sport. The popularity of the event can be supported by the fact that many renowned WWE super star wrestlers have shifted their career to mixed martial arts. One of the famous among them is Brook Lanser.
Moreover the promotion of the UFC has also played a vital role in the popularity of the event. Other media like the video games have especially created an excitement among the young generation. The huge variety of UFC merchandise has been a key element to the popularity of the event. Over the years UFC has signed of many partnership deals. It has also acquired other sporting events which includes the Pride Fighting Championship. It has also created other events like World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC). In short the Ultimate Fighting Championship is becoming more popular than ever.
Recent surveys have showed that people are moving from single disciplined martial arts toward the mixed martial arts. Boxing which used to be a renowned sport is becoming less popular. A recent survey in the states shows that more people know the name of current UFC champion then of the name of the current boxing champion. Also the popularity of the event can be confirmed by the fact that it sells more pay-per-view tickets than most of the sports. Online betting on this sport has increased over the year. And countries worldwide are being considered to host the events of Ultimate Fighting Championship. In 2010 an event of UFC is going to be held in Abu Dhabi. Also the former champion Tito Ortiz confirmed that UFC 113 tickets were sold in just 30 minutes.
All these facts confirm that the popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is increasing and in the coming years UFC will take over most of the fighting entertainment events. And it would be considered the most popular sport of all times.

Everybody likes fresh starts. As Luck Would Have It in MMA it is as fearsome as they come with the start off event of the newborn decennary being the UFC 108. Regrettably on the turn over side, there’s $45.95 pay per watch fee which if you wish to upgrade to high definition is enlarged to $55.95! Both have had quite long careers in the Mixed Martial Arts industry, and while Gilbert has more losses than Santos it’s largely expectable that he will succeed due to his beast strength. The UFC 108 is placed to be held in the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada on January 2nd 2010. The original program was to have Anderson Silva combat off against former UFC light heavyweight champ, Vitor Belfort but this match was canceled when it was definite Silva hadn’t fully recovered from his elbow surgery.Another round of Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin was rescheduled from UFC 106 for UFC 108 but was once again cancelled due to an ongoing illness of Lesnar’s.You can watch UFC 108 live online free at our website in full hd.

Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, combines different fighting techniques from multiple sources into a single focused approach to fighting and self defense. The techniques used include a mix of both martial arts traditions and non-traditions that are combined for fighting in competitions. By competing in Mixed Martial Arts competitions, martial artists from many different backgrounds can compete against each other, following rules that allow various striking and grappling techniques from both standing and ground positions.
Competitive history of MMA fighting can be traced back to numerous events in Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim through out the early 1900s. In more recent history, the modern era of Mixed Martial Arts, competition started with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC in the early 1990s. The huge growth in popularity of the UFC and MMA resulted in numerous training centers either opening new or switching their programs over to use Mixed Martial Arts for self defense as well as high intensity workouts. Training in Mixed Martial Arts has hit the mainstream and is now practiced by a wide range of individuals at nearly any age.
Most ‘traditional’ mixed martial arts have a specific focus and these arts could be trained to improve in that area. The most popular disciplines for each type include Stand-Up forms (like kick boxing and full contact karate), Clinch form (like Greco-Roman wrestling, Same, and Judo) for clinching or throwing, and Ground form (like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Sambo) which improve ground control and submission holds. These focus areas were initially practiced individually by competitive fighters. As the sport has become more mainstream and more widely taught the techniques have combined into a single Mixed Martial Arts program. The key to a successful result of mixed martial arts training is to find the right trainer and maintain a consistent workout schedule.
An example of such a training center with the right trainers is the Baltimore MD based Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu center (http://www.baltimore-mma.com). Mixed Martial Arts Baltimore is the Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training center. Crazy 88 BJJ is the Team Lloyd Irvin Training Center that teaches BJJ to anyone. While the center has members that compete at national levels around the United States they also have many members who train just for the high quality workout that BJJ can be. For Mixed Martial Arts in Baltimore, Crazy 88 offers the facility and trainers to enable any student to develop their skills regardless of starting level, and also to keep in shape.
Often, beginners to the BJJ training methods are intimidated by the usual training approaches. The usual approach typically involves throwing new people into advanced courses to get beat up and learn the painful way. Crazy 88 BJJ the center for Mixed Martial Arts Baltimore has specifically designed workout schedules and trainers that work with beginning students of all ages. In fact, almost 50% of their training center’s courses are “White Belt” courses, designed specifically for beginners.
While traditional Mixed Martial Arts programs have focused on training for competition, the popularity of the UFC and other type events have moved MMA and more specifically BJJ training into a mainstream fitness approach for many people. BJJ has proven to be an excellent workout routine for students of all ages and all skill levels if you have the appropriate facility, the right trainers, a flexible program, and stay consistent in the workouts.
